Burns researched declining bee populations for her girl scout gold award project. One of the main focuses of her study was solitary bees like mason and leafcutter bees. For her project, she collected samples of bees with the help of a local beekeeper and entomologists from the University of Wyoming. A few times a week she would set up traps then record her findings.
Vitalant serves over 900 hospitals nationwide, including 14 in the state of Wyoming. The organization has to collect 5,300 units a day to keep at the safe four day level for all the hospitals that they serve. At this point in time, Vitalant estimates it will take a thousand additional donations per week to get out of the critical status.
Monday, the City Planning Commission hosts a public hearing at 6 pm.“So, this plan really looks at traffic safety as well as moving people. So were not just talking about moving cars but we are addressing things like pedestrian safety access as well as building links within our greenway system,” said Jillian Harris, Senior Transportation Planner, Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization. The hearing will be at the Kiwanis Community House in Lions Park.
