Victim of Converse County Officer-Involved Shooting Identified

CONVERSE COUNTY, WY - Shortly after midnight on Thursday morning (7/23/15) a Converse County Deputy was in the area of Anderson Dairy Fishing Access and observed a suspicious vehicle under the Anderson Dairy Bridge.

A check of the vehicle came back with it being reported as stolen out of northeastern Nebraska so the deputy made contact with Robbie Lee Edison, a middle aged white male from Yankton, South Dakota.

During the confrontation, the deputy shot and killed Edison. Afterwards, it was found that Robbie Edison did have an active nationwide extraditable warrant out of South Dakota.

The deputy involved has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave, which is customary after an event of this nature.

The case will continue to be investigated by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation.

The Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Converse County.

One man was killed at around 12:30 Thursday morning after a Converse County deputy shot him. There’s no word yet on exactly where this happened but we're told it was in a rural area outside of the city of Douglas.

The name of the white middle-aged man who was killed has not been released nor has the reason why he was shot. We spoke to Converse County Sheriff Clint Becker who says the deputy involved was not hurt and tells us “this sort of incident does not happen often [in Converse County].”

We have a call out to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations and will update once we learn more.
