Cheyenne, WY (KGWN) - A statewide tornado drill marked the finish of severe weather awareness week across Wyoming. It was a good opportunity to get refreshed with your home or workplaces emergency plans in case of severe weather.
Principal Patrick Lane of St. Mary's Catholic school in Cheyenne talked about the importance of these tornado drills, especially in schools.
"...if you don't practice, you know there's going to be a lot of issues, someone's going to get hurt, because we've got 3 year olds here all the way to 8th grade. So those 3 year olds...there's going to be a lot of panic and stuff like that, so we got to make sure they have a little background information on what to do and where to go."
Principal Lane says that school runs two tornado drills a year along with several other lockdown drills in cases of emergency.
