Sixers win fourth straight state title

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) - Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers took down the Gillette Roughriders 8-4 Thursday at Powers Field.

The Sixers got things started in the first inning during R.J. Prince's at bat. A passed ball brought Ryan Andren home to put the Sixers up 1-0. Prince grounded out, but drove home another run to put the Sixers on top 2-0.

The Sixers notched another three runs in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth.

Cody Brooks earned the victory after pitching five and third innings, allowing three runs on four hits. He struck out two and walked one.

Brooks also earned the state tournament MVP. He batted .400 with four RBIs. He also managed a 0.72 ERA with seven strikeouts on the mound.

This is the Sixers fourth title in a row. They have won the state championship 16 out of the last 18 years.
