NORMAN, Ok. (Wyoming News Now)- Lauren Taubert who attends Kansas State and is a graduate from Natrona County high school just competed at the Big 12 Track Championships. Lauren was the runner-up in the heptathlon, and set new personal best total 5,770 points. It moved her up to the #7 spot in the end of season NCAA rankings.
As a result, she made the cut for the field of top 24 to compete at the NCAA championships in Austin, TX, June 5th-8th. With this comes the opportunity to compete for a national championship and garner her 2nd All-American honor. She now ranks 5th on KSU all-time list for the Heptathlon. (Heptathletes & Decathletes don't qualify at western/eastern regional finals)
Late Sunday night, Lauren competed in the 400m hurdle finals and moved up from a 6th place finish in prelims, to finish 2nd in the Finals. Her 400m hurdle time of 58.10 moved her up to 5th as well, on KSU all-time list. The time also qualifies her into the Western Regional Finals in that event in Sacramento, CA in 2 weeks.
