CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- The Mia Maria organization hosted a double elimination tournament for two-person bocce teams. This was the first year the tournament was held at Mylar Park. Mia Maria worked with the city of Cheyenne to build the courts at the park.

"It's an easy sport to learn. People would really enjoy it if they get outside, you don't wanna miss summers and falls in Wyoming. It's a great sport," said chairman of the Bocce Bash, Joe Evans.
There wee 16 teams participating in the tournament. Members of the organization encouraged members to pick up bocce ball as an activity.
"Bocce's been around a long time, not so long in Cheyenne," President of Sons of Italy, Ken Ferrari said. "Hopefully it's getting more popular, hopefully more people will come out and enjoy it."

Every year, proceeds go to a charity around Cheyenne. This year, proceeds of the tournament will go to the 'Friday Food Bags' charity.
