CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- The Wyoming Legion baseball season will be starting this week. The Cheyenne Post 6 Sixers will have their first game Wednesday, May 20th in Casper. "It'll be good to have a little bit of reunion with the coaches and everything that we've kinda missed out on till this point" said Post 6 Sixers Head Coach, Ty Lain.
Legion baseball teams start making their schedule for the season in November but this season they had to start all over with a brand new schedule. "Everything that we worked on got thrown away and we had to start over from scratch, you know using a lot of contacts and relationships we have with different people and coaches in our area and trying to use that to put together the best schedule we can" said Coach Lain.
A lot has changed for their schedule this season but some things have stayed the same like the Memorial Day tournament happening in Gillette this weekend "It's great to be able to get back on the field it was such a on the edge type of thing this year and it's different then anything we've ever known so being able to actually go play is really great" said Post 6 player, Andrew Johnson.
The Post 6 Sixers are excited to get back to playing but it's been an adjustment with all the social distancing rules. "It's been a little bit of a struggle trying to work together as a team when you have nine kids together at a practice, now that their opening up more people it's nice to have more kids out there getting more reps" said Post 6 player, Nico Vite.
Post 6 has games scheduled for the rest of May and in June but the amount of people that can attend the games is still being discussed.
