CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- On Monday, September 16th the Laramie County School District #1 voted on bringing softball in to high schools. The Board of Trustees all voted in favor of the sport after hearing what coaches and players had to say. Several coaches and players showed up to the board meeting wearing shirts that said 'Let Them Play'. They wanted their voices to be heard and wanted the community to know softball is important to these young girls.
"its a big deal its a pride thing for these girls to have the opportunity to play for their high school you know wear their school colors" said Head Coach of the Cheyenne Extreme fast pitch softball team Adam Galicia.
"i was just really appreciative of their support and seeing what they had to say it was just like its really nice to hear how supportive they wanted to be of softball" said Cheyenne Extreme pitcher Ariana Galicia.
High school softball should be brought to Wyoming by 2021.
