POCATELLO, Ida. (Wyoming News Now)- Wyoming high school athletes competed in the final day of the Simplot Games that took place at Idaho State University in Pocatello, Idaho.
For the girls, Rawlins junior Sydney Thorvaldson earned first place in the finals of the 3200m race, setting a meet record with a time of 10:06.38. Cheyenne Central senior Kaitlyn Migneault won the girls shot put with a mark of 12.57.
Senior Taylor Rowe represented Kelly Walsh High School in the 200m dash, finishing in eighth place with a personal record (PR) of 25.76. In the girls 1600m final, Cheyenne East Track Club finished in eighth place with a time of 4:29.12. For the 4 x 400m relay, Central earned ninth place with a time of 4:12.12. Central freshman Sydney Morrell finished 22nd in the girls 800m with a time of 2:29.47. East senior, Amira Cummings finished eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 11-03.00 feet (33.43m).
For the boys, Kelly Walsh’s Emory Yoosook won the boys long jump with a mark of 22-04.25 ft. (6.81m). Darious Wiggins earned 10th place in the 200m with a PR of 22.90 seconds. Junior Colten Atkison earned 10th in the 400m clocking in at 51.58 seconds.
In the boys 1600m Medley final, Laramie TRACC Club earned fifth place, clocking in at 3:42.31 minutes. Cheyenne Central senior Trevor Stephen finished in 14th in the 1600m with a time of 4:30.84 minutes. Natrona County finished in ninth place in the 4 x 200m with 1:35.29. Cheyenne Central earned 12th in the 4 X 800m with a time of 8:35.47.
Cheyenne East senior Corbin Harris finished in seventh place for the boys shot put with a throw of 50-08.75 (15.46m). T-birds junior Wade Pollock earned 12th place with a mark of 48-07.5 (14.82m). Central junior Tanner Bullock got 10th in the weight throw with a distance of 15.41 meters.
