East high school graduate is excited to take on her new role as the Thunderbirds cross country head coach

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) East cross country team has a new cross country head coach, Rebecca Fournier. Rebecca graduated from East high school and ran cross country at East. Rebecca is very familiar with the East cross country team because she was an assistant for several years.

"I'm just really excited for the opportunity and excited to get started on the season, I feel like these kids are my kids and I've been with them for a long long time and i kinda have a good understanding of where they are and where they want to be going" said Coach Fournier.

The students on the team are excited that someone they know took over the head coaching role. "Becky has always been a great coach and this year with her being the head coach I feel like she's gonna be looking at more of us as individuals making sure were not getting injured trying to keep us healthy" said Junior Cactus Rogers.

The Thunderbirds competed for the first time last Friday, August 30th. The girls finished 9th and the boys finished 13th. The Thunderbirds will be running at the Liberty Bell Invitational in Littleton, CO this Saturday, September 7th.
