CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- The Central Indians boys basketball team will play the defending 4A state champions, Kelly Walsh for their first game of the season on the road. The past three seasons, the Indians have made it to the state tournament but haven't made it past the first game. They are returning five players who had a lot of playing time last season. "Have a bunch of returning players from last year a few starters so I feel like we have a good amount of experience to know what to do know how to play varsity basketball and really compete at this state" said Senior point guard Ryan Stampfli.
The last time Central won a state championship was in 2016 under Head Coach Tagg Lain who is entering his sixth season with the team. "This team reminds me a lot of the 2016 state championship team where we got some guys who have experience in the state tournament and want to take the next step" said Coach Lain.
Central will play at Kelly Walsh on Thursday, December 12th.
