Casper Roughnecks return to the diamond
After a long off season, many baseball teams around the state of Wyoming opened their season up this week. A huge theme of it all is how exciting it is to finally be back on the diamond.
"It is so exciting and the kids are having a blast, we are a little rough because we haven't had much practice time but it is so exciting and as I told the boys they need to realize what a privilege this is because there are a lot of people in the country not able to do this who would love to play baseball," said head coach of the Roughnecks Scott Doyle.
The Roughnecks are playing two games today one against Gillette and one against Cheyenne.
Their first game was this morning against Gillette. They were down 11-2 going into the bottom of the 2nd. They were able to score seven runs that inning to cut the lead by two. They did go onto lose this one by run 17-18.
Here is head coach Doyle's thoughts after the game.
"The game was a little rough to begin, we had to many walks, both teams had to many walks, too many errors, however we had an attempt to compete and try and win, didn't quite get it done, only lost by a run, it was good to see us battle back though and I have hopes for this team to become more competitive always.
Many coaches said they are playing a least 30 games this season and seeing a lot of doubles headers on their schedule.
