Casper College Men's Soccer ready for 1st ever season

CASPER, Wyo, (Wyoming News Now) Soccer fields are empty right now, but come the fall, the Casper College men's soccer team hope they can kick of their first season in program history.

"We think that Casper is going to be a premier job in Wyoming for years to come so I am excited to have this opportunity," said the new head coach of the men's team Ben McArthur.

Last June Casper College announced they would have men and women's NJCAA soccer teams ready to compete in Fall of 2020.

"I think it has helped with recruiting, I tell guys hey you are going to be part of the first Casper College soccer team ever so guys get excited about that," said McArthur. "We are going to make history and set the standards really high in the first year and maintain that standard."

Ben McArthur was announced the men's coach this past January.

"That's one of the things we were excited about taking this job in Casper is I get to build the foundation, I get to build the culture, I get to build the team chemistry and all those things that are important to me as a coach, I get to do that and so it has been really really exciting to do that."

He says right now COVID-19 hasn't affected any recruiting.

"We are always recruiting a year in advance kind of, so a lot of the guys I've recruited for Casper are guys that I have watched play in the past year just at other tournaments and showcases and stuff so our roster right now we are done recruiting in essences like my roster is full so it hasn't effected us necessarily like that," said McArthur.

A schedule for the upcoming season is set to be released soon.
