Thunderbirds Men's Basketball team prepare for upcoming season

CASPER, Wyo. The Casper College Men's Basketball team have their home opener on Nov. 1 against Trinidad State Junior College at 7:30 p.m.

"I'm just excited to start the season. I,myself, haven't played in like a year and a half, two years, so just to get started and play some basketball games again is exciting and I'm ready to do it," said Redshirt Sophomore Eric Jamerman.

The men's team won 32 games last year and also won the Regional Tournament.

"We played Trinidad State and Air Force Prep last year and we know what to expect, and it's going to be high level, great competition and just looking forward to competing," said Jamerman.

This year they have a new head coach, Shaun Gutting, who was an assistant coach last year.

"I was an assistant last year, so it's my first job as a head coach, so there's just a lot of learning that's been going on between myself and all of our guys which has made for a really exciting pre-season so far," said Gutting.

Gutting said they graduated eight sophomores from last year, six of them signed to D1 schools.

"We have seven sophomores again this year but three of them are transfers, the other guys that were here last year only two of them played significant minutes, the other two were red-shirting, so you know it's really just kind of a bunch of new faces around here this year," said Gutting.
