-There are several types of bullying
Verbal, physical, relational-shunning, gossip, or exclusion and cyber

-Empowering our child-As a parent we need to convey to our child:
I hear you. I’m here for you. I believe you. You are not alone in this.

-As parents we don’t want to
Don’t minimize the situation. Don’t try rationalizing the situation. Don’t’ try to explain it away by saying things like “kids will be kids” or “it’s part of growing up.” Avoid victimizing our child by asking things like “What did you do to make them so angry?

-As parents how can help our child avoid being bullied?
Help them develop a strong sense of self. Teach them how to be a good friend. Strong friendships can help avoid social isolation. Make sure they have a friend or buddy. Teach them how to get into groups. Teach them to speak out.

g. They need to be taught the difference between tattling and telling. From a young age, we constantly tell children not to tattle. Telling is not tattling.

h. Teach them how to respond.

i. Role play responses.
