CHEYENNE, Wyo K12 is an organization that allows the citizens of Wyoming during the current COVID-19 crisis to continue their education online.
Students can enroll to this free and fully state funded program which provides a laptop, and K-12 courses that mirror public school curriculum.
Head of Wyoming Virtual Academy Joe Heywood says, "The learning is designed for Kindergarten through twelfth grade students in Wyoming, they need to be a Wyoming resident. Who enrolls with our program, is provided with a laptop, and then the full curriculum for the courses they may need for kindergarten through twelfth grade."
He concludes, "Every course is state approved, by the wyoming department of education."
With COVID-19 creating an uncertainty in terms of how long schools will be closed for, and the amount of education that could be missed in the coming months.
This is a helpful way for families and teachers to stay engaged in learning and receive the education they need for their futures.
Also, students who complete the program will also receive a high school diploma from Niobrara County public school District.
