Wyoming Symphony Orchestra conductor departs after 10 years
The Wyoming Symphony Orchestra's conductor and music director is departing after a decade leading the Casper orchestra.
Matthew Savery's final performance Saturday will include Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony and the Russian composer's Violin Concerto.
Savery says he feels good about leaving the symphony in a better condition than he found it. He says it's difficult to find as good an orchestra in a town five times Casper's size, which is a credit to the community.
He plans to spend more time with his family in Bozeman, Montana, where he also conducts the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra. He says he is working on a book and plans to "chill out" after going full-tilt for 30 years.
