CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- The Wyoming State Legislature convened at noon on January 8th, 2019. This is the 65th Legislative Session.
There are 14 brand new members and 3 new Senate members who previously served in the Senate.
One of the brand new members is Representative Sara Burlingame. She is looking forward to the fact that the State Capitol will be reopening during her time serving. She said, "Driving by the Capitol all covered up and thinking, I've got to go knock doors tonight and if I do, I get to be there. It really motivated me. It really did."
Speaker of the House, Steve Harshman, asked a few questions of the House as they head into the next legislative session. They included "How are they going honor those who came before?" and "How are they going to leave the place better than they found it?"
The Minority Floor Leader in the Senate, Chris Rothfuss, said, "Every new legislative session offers that fresh start of being that legislature that breaks the boom and bust cycle. And that really takes action."
