Wyoming 2-1-1 to host Thankful Thursday fundraiser this Thursday, October 24th

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (WYOMING NEWS NOW) -- Wyoming 2-1-1 is a comprehensive, statewide provider of information and referral for Wyomingites. 2-1-1 is an easy to remember, free helpline (a one-stop source of information, if you will) for people looking for community services and resources, especially for those who need essential services, such as food, shelter, counseling, employment assistance, and more. The phones are staffed by trained Information and Referral Specialists who quickly assess the caller’s needs and refer them to the help they seek. We maintain a comprehensive database so that we can give out information and referrals on community resources. We currently maintain over 2000 services/resources statewide and take in nearly 4000 calls per year. We also assist in identifying resource gaps in communities based upon the collection of data from the calls we take as well as assisting in the recovery process in the event of a disaster in the State of Wyoming.

Wyoming 2-1-1 is having a Thankful Thursday fundraising event next Thursday, October 24 from 4:30-9. The card games and raffles will begin around 5 p.m. and the live auction will commence shortly after 6. It will be held at the AMVETS Post 10 at 3839 E. Lincolnway.

Thankful Thursday was established to raise awareness and help raise funds for local nonprofits and they recognize several charities each year and we are one of the fortunate nonprofits that has been selected.

There is no cost to attend, but there will be food (pizza from Mr. Jim’s Pizza and wings from Buffalo Wild Wings) available to patrons for a small donation, there will also be raffle tickets and punch box for sale and auction items to bid on.
