CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Local, state and national campaign items from the 20th century are now on display at the Fort Caspar Museum. The "Who's Your Candidate?" exhibit opened last week.

"For better or worse, politics touches everybody and this is really fun. You can get a bit of nostalgia, look at some old presidential buttons. I think it will bring back some memories for people," Rick Young, Fort Caspar Museum director, said.

Young said political buttons date all the way back to George Washington but until the 1890s they were not mass produced.

Political memorabilia boomed during the 20th century which is why Fort Caspar highlighted campaigns in the 1900s.

Buttons, beer cans, pencils, ribbons and more were all used in political campaigns. Young said being able to show this history to the community is what Fort Caspar is about.

"That's really our mission here at the museum, to educate the public on our local history," Young said.

The "Who's Your Candidate?" exhibit will be on display until November 2020.
