CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Casper residents will walk to raise awareness and money to fight Alzheimer’s disease Saturday.

The shirt people who raise at least $100 for the walk receive in Natrona County, Wyo. on Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019.

Registration for the 2019 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Casper starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by a ceremony at 10 a.m. and the walk itself begins at 10:30 a.m. The Alzheimer’s Association hosts the event.

The walk starts at The Gaslight Social on Ash Street, goes up to the Casper Rail Trail, up to Kimball Street and back.

Many people walking will be there in support of someone who has the disease. This includes Carla Dunn. Her mother currently has the disease and her grandmother died from it.

“I do share the experience as a caregiver with those that are currently providing care and support for their loved ones with Alzheimer's as well as those that have lost a loved one. I've had this horrible hit two family members,” she said.

Dunn also sits on the Casper walk’s planning committee.

Saturday night, the Alzheimer’s Association is hosting a benefit concert with country singer Jay Allen at The Gaslight Social. It starts at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and can be bought at the door or at Meadow Wind Assisted Living.

Though it’s free to walk Saturday morning, those who raise at least $100 dollars get a free t-shirt and concert ticket.
