Wyoming winters have the reputation of being cruel, brutal and at times feel everlasting. WYDOT's snow plows work tirelessly throughout the winter months to treat and clear roads for travelers.
With their priority to keeping the roadways safe and accessible for travelers. It is quite alarming to find that snow plow accidents have more than doubled in comparison of last year.
WYDOT Director K. Luke Reiner is concerned that in regards to the rise of snow plow hits, that there isn't a clear solution to the problem. Officials have found the majority of hits occur on Wyoming interstates. In these findings, WYDOT officials introduced ideas that could possibly be a solution.
Officials are looking into a solution involving an improved communication with the public with an alert system to warn drivers of snow plows in the area.
WYDOT reminds drivers during the winter season to limit accidents to drive slow and with caution, give snow plows the space they need to work and don't be afraid to pullover if the weather is too harsh to safely travel.
