CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - Wyoming Medical Center wants to continue helping us with respiratory and COVID-19 related medical advice.
"The more education, the better. The more resources, the better. The more that patients can stay at home as opposed to going out to the public, being exposed unnecessarily or exposing others unnecessarily, very important," said WMC Chief of Staff Dr. Andy Dunn.
Dunn said having this hotline open can help comfort people who are worried about their symptoms, or just need answers.
"That's the point of this clinic, that's the point of the hotline. Providers answering questions, providers encouraging patients that yeah it's okay to talk about your symptoms, we're here for that and let's do this preemptively. So absolutely, that's what we're here for, this is a pandemic, this is a big deal," said Dunn.
You can reach the hotline at (307)-233-7288. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Respiratory Symptom Screening Clinic is also taking pressure off of WMC's emergency room.
"It's business as usual in the emergency room. They obviously have an infrastructure set for respiratory triage as well but everyone has limited resources. So this is an avenue where we have off-loaded significant amounts of volume for the patient that's allowed them to do their work which is very important every day," said Dunn.
WMC asks people with minimal respiratory symptoms to call their medical provider, or the clinic's hotline first. If you are experiencing respiratory distress or another emergency, call 911.
