CASPER Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Governor Mark Gordon said during a press conference this week that the tourism economy is rebounding since the outbreak of COVID-19.
Brook Kaufman, Visit Casper CEO, said Casper is seeing an increase in people here.
“In the middle of April, we hit a low point in occupancy at 19 percent. I’m super excited to share we are over 44 percent last week. We are seeing a rebound here in our market,” Kaufman said.
She added they have slowly started to market the town to tourists again. Also, people will start coming because they want to avoid crowds, which could give Casper an advantage.
Visit Casper is focusing on encouraging locals to invite friends and family.
“If they are staying in hotels that’s amazing if not you’re obviously going to be at restaurants and attractions so you’ll be stimulating the economy and community,” Kaufman said.
