LARAMIE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- University of Wyoming trustees have chosen vice president for finance and administration Neil Theobald, as the interim president to serve for a year after the upcoming departure of the school's current president. All 11 trustees present on a call Monday voted for Theobald over two other candidates. Theobald will take over for president Laurie Nichols.

"The board has expressed basically confidence that we're [UW] heading in the right direction," Associate vice president of marketing & communication Chad Baldwin said.

Trustees decided recently not to renew Nichols' contract when it expires June 30. Nichols plans to join the university faculty for at least a year. Theobald's term is expected to begin on the first of July. He will receive a base salary of $340,000.
