CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -- The Turkey Stampede 5K took place on Thursday, November 28, 2019. Even though there was snow on the ground, the race still happened.

Runners followed a course route that went around the neighborhood near South High School. The Turkey Stampede donated $500 to the Traci Friess Fund, which awards scholarships to people at South.

Kerri Gentry, with the Turkey Stampede said, "Well today is no different than any other day I actually think that it's a beautiful day. When I was looking at the weather this morning it was saying that it was going to be 30 degrees and no wind out today. In years past it has been bright and sunny. So I think that we're doing really good this year. Even though there's snow outside."

Students from South also volunteered during the race.
