Taco John's raised over $11,000 for the Hispanic Organization for Progress and Education
Nachos Navidad is a promotion by Taco John's that donates 25 cents of every Nachos Navidad purchased from around Thanksgiving, when the promotion starts, until the end of the year. People can also round their orders up to the next dollar amount and donate that money too. If you do the math, that's about 44,000 orders of Nachos Navidad. It raised $11,124.11 for a non-profit in Cheyenne.
The Hispanic Organization for Progress and Education (HOPE) has a vision of "making a positive difference for a brighter future."
The non-profit's founder said that these students are resilient. "You know, we don't give these students enough credit. I can get teared up just thinking about them," said Ann Redman, the founder of HOPE.
One of the recipients of a scholarship, Andrea Becerra said, "Getting a scholarship from HOPE, any amount helps." She is working on a Natural Science Degree from Laramie County Community College.
A previous recipient and current member of the scholarship committee, Alexis Moralez-Mueten said, "If we were able to do what we were with the small amount we had, there are so many more students that will be able to benefit from this amount."
