CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Well, the FFA convention certainly is in town and these students are competing to be the best in the state.

“it’s been so fun to prepare for this because we’ve met with very high-quality people.” Said Kadra Clark, a student from Goshen County.

The 2019 Wyoming State FFA convention is bringing in more than fifteen hundred FFA members, advisors and guests to learn about leading from industry leaders.

“All for students and members to experience and get out to the real world sort of deal.” Explained Sheridan Stewart, the Wyoming FFA State Vice President.

It is a state competition, but beyond competing, workshops are educating students on a variety of topics including public speaking.

“And that was fun because the contest I am in is AG issues so that’s exactly what I need to do is better my communication skills.” Said Clark.

Learning communication skills is one thing students say they get out of FFA but that’s not the only thing.

“after competing yesterday, my pride in how hard I worked on that project, that’s one of the biggest things for me in here.” Said Kodi Christensen, the Shoshoni FFA Vice President.

One student hopes to be a teacher in the future, continuing giving back to kids.

Its something she is learning about right now.

“It’s not just all about my experience with FFA, but my experience helping other kids have great experiences as well.” Said Christensen.

She’s not the only one hoping to give back.

“I know what it did for me and I hope that I can do the same for them.” Said Stewart.

Winners of the state convention will be given the chance to represent Wyoming at the national convention in October.
