CHEYENNE, Wy. (KGWN)- The Cheyenne Police Department has completed their investigation into a fatal motorcycle crash which occurred on September 4.

The report determined that at approximately 4:50 p.m. a 2018 Chevy Suburban was northbound on Whitney Rd and was stopped for a stop sign at Highway US 30. The driver of the Suburban, Christopher Van Tuyl, 30, of Cheyenne, didn't see a motorcycle that was eastbound on Highway US 30 and entered the intersection. The driver of the motorcycle, Braden Sauls, 21, of Cheyenne couldn't complete an evasive maneuver before colliding with the Suburban. Sauls died as a result of the impact.

The investigation concludes that there was no impairment from either driver and excessive speeds were not a factor in the collision.

Van Tuyl was issued a citation for the stop sign violation.

Since this crash and several others City officials and WYDOT have looked at ways to improve safety at the intersection. Recent improvements include large stop lines and signs in the area to make drivers more aware.
