Serve Wyoming hosts 25th annual MLK Jr. Day of Service and Remembrance Monday
Although Monday is a federal holiday, Serve Wyoming sees it as a day on rather than a day off. This will be the 25th annual MLK Jr. Day of Service and Remembrance. It is also Wyoming Equality Day.
"It's not only an American virtue, it's a Wyoming virtue of helping our neighbors and really making our community better," Shelly McAlpin, Serve Wyoming executive director, said.
The march will begin at Art 321 downtown where there will be speakers and students art will be on display. Volunteers will then honor Rev. James Reeb's mural downtown. The march will finish at First United Methodist Church where there will be a celebration and after will be service projects.
"We have partners that come together for these special events that we hold including MLK Day. It's just a real joy to see nonprofit, the for profit sector, volunteers (and) everyone coming together and really uniting to serve each other," Wendy Luck, Volunteer Wyoming program director said.
Serve Wyoming thanks its partners for helping put this together and encourages all in the community to come out.
