Roof collapses on a downtown Scottsbluff building
According to Scottsbluff Fire Captain Dan Hubbs and Scottsbluff Fire Chief Kevin Spencer, at the time of the roof collapse, 10 to 12 workers were working on scene, four were trapped inside with one injured and was taken to Regional West Medical Center.
At this moment, we are unsure of the name and what type of injury it was.
Emergency personnel will continue to keep the sidewalks and alley around the building closed off to prevent injures if the building was to collapse outwards.
At this moment, they will keep 19th Street closed until emergency personnel feel that the area is safe.
The cause of the roof collapse at this time is still unknown.
Scottsbluff firefighters are using a hook and ladder truck to figure out if anyone else is trapped in a building in downtown Scottsbluff.
At 9am, fire rescue and police started looking for anyone hurt in this building at 19th and Broadway Streets. Our Scottsbluff news team saw at least one person taken to the hospital in an ambulance, but there’s no word on that person’s condition.
It also appears the rear third of the building's roof collapsed. This building is in the middle of a remodeling project to become the city’s first micro-brewery.
