Roller Derby team in Cheyenne is having a free boot camp in June

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- The adult roller derby team in Cheyenne is always open to welcoming new members and a way to see what the team is all about is to attend a free boot camp they are having in June. "We encourage anyone and everyone to come out there is no age limit, our adult team is 18 and up, don't let age be a thing I'm 42 years old, I've skated with women that are 55 to 60 so age is not an issue" said team member, Amanda Abell.

This boot camp will teach you everything you need to know about roller derby. The team has all the gear you need and you don't have to have any prior experience to attend.

The team cant go around to compete right now because of COVID-19 so they say this is a great time to come out and try it. "Going to work on rebuilding our endurance because a lot of us have sat around so a lot of us need to rebuild our endurance, get back on our footwork get our skill set back up" said team member, Tara Grube.

The main thing they want people to know is that being apart of a roller derby team is fun. "As a newcomer coming in, Cheyenne is in a growing period so we're looking to really grow this team we want everyone to come out we want to be able to say hey we hit our 25 max" said Abell.

The junior boot camp will be Tuesday nights from 6:00pm-8:00pm and the adult boot camp will be Thursday nights from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Practices take place at Roller City.
