OLLI at Casper College looking for more members

CASPER Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Casper College is hoping more community members will join their program.

This program includes five complimentary classes and the occasional field trip. The program costs 60 dollars a year and people can be redeemed until December 2020.

“Things are a little different and we are doing some field trips, but not as many,” said Vicki Pollock, lifelong learning specialist.

Pollock adds they have history, cooking and technology classes for anyone over 50. She adds anyone over 18 can participate, but most members are between 50 and 75.

Also, her favorite part about leading this group is creating a great community.

“Community and conversations are the creative things we get to do that you wouldn’t get to do at a regular job,” Pollock said.

Jeaneece Schmidt, a lifelong learning specialist, said a requirement of the OLLI foundation is to have 500 members.

“ We met our membership goal for this fiscal year today, but there’s still half a year left and our new fiscal year starts next week and we would love to meet new members,” Schmidt said.

Schmidt added this program is great for anyone going through a life transition.
