CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN)- As the newly elected president of the Cheyenne Animal Shelter (CAS) board, Samantha Vernon looks to make changes at the shelter. The CAS implemented the Managed Admissions Program, allowing the shelter to conduct interviews for individuals who wish to surrender their pets. CAS does this in order to get more information about each animal in order to reduce return rates, and put them in a home that best fits them.

"Our shelter is one of the best in the state, by far," Dr. Vernon said.

Dr. Vernon has served on the shelter board for the past four years. She's also a veterinarian at Frontier Veterinary Clinic.
