A combined nearly 10,000 students, parents and staff participated in the survey. Four categories were measured: safety, environment, engagement and responsibility. A scale of one to four was used, with a three meaning NCSD is meeting requirements.

At this time safety is the only category meeting requirements at 3.00. Overall scores had environment at 2.84, engagement at 2.90 and responsibility at 2.96.

“We knew that going into this survey, we were going to have areas that we were really excited for. But we also knew that there’s always going to be areas of improvement and that’s why this survey is so critical,” Tanya Southerland, NCSD Public Relations Officer, said.

The climate survey is a vital part of NCSD’s strategic plan.
