Multiple deadly crashes in Wyoming over the weekend

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (RELEASE) - On May 5, 2019, a fatal crash occurred at milepost 30 on Wyoming 210 east of Laramie, Wyoming. Around 2:23 a.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a one-vehicle rollover.

A 2009 Toyota Corolla was traveling eastbound on Wyoming 210 when the vehicle drifted off the right side of the roadway. The driver over-corrected the vehicle back to the left before driving off the left shoulder and overturning.

The driver of the Toyota has been identified as 20-year-old Cheyenne, Wyoming resident Seraphina N. Jimenez. Jimenez was not wearing her seatbelt properly and succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.

Driver inattention and cell phone use are being investigated as possible contributing factors.

This is the 54th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 27 in 2018, 34 in 2017, and 16 in 2016 to date.

On May 5, 2019, a fatal crash occurred at milepost 12 on US 26 north of Jackson, Wyoming. Around 1:56 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a one-vehicle rollover.

A 2012 Subaru Outback was traveling westbound on US 26 when the vehicle drifted across the center line and into the eastbound lane. The driver over-corrected back to the westbound lane before driving off the right shoulder and overturning.

The driver of the Subaru has been identified as 33-year-old Jackson, Wyoming resident Avery L. Rogers. Rogers was wearing his seatbelt but succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.

Driver inattention and alcohol use are being investigated as possible contributing factors.

This is the 55th fatality on Wyoming’s roadways in 2019 compared to 27 in 2018, 34 in 2017, and 16 in 2016 to date.

On May 5, 2019, a fatal crash occurred at milepost 1 on US 26 north of Alpine, Wyoming. Around 6:25 p.m., Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were dispatched to the area for a motorcycle crash.

A 2014 Harley Davidson was traveling westbound on US 26 when the driver of the motorcycle had to brake hard to avoid colliding with another vehicle. This caused the driver of the Harley to lose control, and crash on the roadway.

The driver of the Harley has been identified as 44-year-old Idaho Falls, Idaho resident Melinda Gregston. Gregston was wearing a helmet but succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.

Driver inattention is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
