CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) Surfin Smiles Pediatric dentistry held a candy buy-back for Operation Gratitude for the fifth year in a row. Employees say last year they got three hundred and twelve pounds of candy.
Kids came and weighted their candy on a scale. They were paid one dollar per pound up to five pounds.
Dentists say children can learn about sacrificing something they love by donating their candy. Dr. Everett Maynard says he loves doing the candy buyback because he is a veteran and was active duty in the United States Airforce.
"We actually couldn't do anything. We couldn't leave the compound. It was a big morale downer and you know you're away from family you're in a weird area and we actually got packages. it was amazing,” Maynard said.
Maynard said eating candy is ok if you brush your teeth and drink water after you it.
