CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) - The Casper Mountain Young Marines will be honoring local veterans on Memorial Day by placing roses on their graves at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery.

Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery Friday.

"It means a lot to me to be able to show respect to the ones who served for us, for our freedom," said Casper Mountain Young Marines Pfc. Hunter Izatt.

The Young Marines will lay more than 1,000 roses on veterans graves Monday. They will lay the rose on the grave, say the veterans name out loud and salute.

With almost 4,000 veterans buried at Oregon Trail, the Young Marines are asking the community to bring more roses to the cemetery Monday, so they can place them on as many veterans graves as possible.

It means a lot to the Young Marines to still be able to honor those we've lost.

"I think it's really important that we're still being able to come out here because I do feel like we need to emphasize the fact of what this means for everyone, and what it should do for everyone. So I'm really glad that our unit, and other veterans and other people can still come out and support," said Young Marines Sgt. Angelica Harvey.

The Young Marines will be at Oregon Trail Veterans Cemetery from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Memorial Day, if you would like to bring roses for them to place on veterans graves. They also have an order at Keefe's Flowers, you can purchase and donate roses to their order.
