Local Casper spa feeling the effects of COVID-19

CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) The Fox Spa is a full service day spa in Casper that opened up in 2015.

"Something that is really unique about our day spa is that we are a one on one day spa so we never have more than two people in a room at once, our spa always ten or less at any given time that is part of our environment," said spa manager Morgan Covert.

When Governor Gordon issued an order on March 24 to temporarily close all beauty salons and cosmetology services until April 3, the Fox Spa was already closed.

"It was done per Natrona County through our city, from what i understand that mayor proposed it on behalf of the Natrona County Health Department."

An order that was signed by state officials on March 20, to have all beauty salons in Casper shut down.

"In the beauty industry, most people are 10.99 independent contractors so if we are not in the spa working, we aren't making a pay check and we don't have an employer that can help through his time so the longer we go without pay check the harder it is for us to keep up our booth rent our back bars and then normal day to day lives," said Covert.

However the team at Fox Spa is still trying to remain positive and serve the community.
