Laramie woman arrested for DWI, now faces additional felony charge

30-year-old Laramie resident Joy Watkins was arrested on Sunday after causing a disturbance at the Safeway in Laramie.
According to a press release from the Laramie Police Department, officers responded to the Safeway parking lot on Sunday night at 7:25 after a report had been filed for a woman causing a disturbance inside the store.
Officers determined Watkins was subject of the report, and arrested there. She was charged with Driving While Under the Influence and subsequently charged with Taking Controlled Substances into a Jail, which is a felony.
Bond has not yet been set on Miss Watkins’ felony charge and she remains incarcerated at the Albany County Detention Center.
Taking Controlled Substances into a Jail is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than three (3) years, a fine of not more than three thousand dollars ($3,000.00), or both.
