CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now)- The Laramie County library offers Zumbini as a fun way for parents not only to interact with their children, but to teach them basic skills. Zumbini is a music and movement program that's based off Zumba. The class assist children between the ages 0-4 yrs to develop cognitive, motor skills, etc.
"Music and dancing is so good for child development,” member of the class Trina Markland said. “It helps with their balance and just those gross motor skills, so we really try and help with that."
Parents and children played with instruments and scarfs, while dancing to Latin-style music.
"I just love the difference in the music,” instructor Laura Sutton said. “The Latin beat and the world music just made it a lot of fun."
Parents said they enjoyed spending time with their children and bonding with other parents. Sutton's favorite part about teaching the parents and children Zumbini was watching the parents and children dance together, enjoying each other’s time.
"We say Zumbini is like a happy hour for moms and their children," Sutton said.
The class will occur on the second Friday of every other month in the Early Literacy Center, of the Laramie county library.
