CHEYENNE, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) -- Laramie County Fire District #2 was approved for grant funding at the State Loan and Investment Board meeting on January 16, 2020. The mineral royalties grants are used to cover emergency situations, comply with mandates, and provide essential services to the public.
The $60,000 request will cover half of the total cost for the project. The rest of the money will come from LCFD #2 and the Homeowners Association for the Cherry Hills neighborhood.
Laramie County Fire District #2 Chief Jason Caughey said, "This is a great opportunity for us to improve the water supply issued that we have in our fire protection district area." The water cistern is 30,000 gallons and will help provide for water needs in the area east of Cheyenne.
