LARAMIE COUNTY, Wyo. (KGWN) - Laramie County Fire District Two is seeking applicants for it's resident program. The program partners directly with Laramie County Community College to provide training and real-world experience for students interested in fire service.
All residents have to be degree-seeking students with LCCC. Residents live rent free at the station full-time and, following a 12-week academy and participating in calls, receive their degree along with the certifications in fire and medical necessary to be competitive in the field.
The program also provides tuition reimbursement for students who meet the requirements each semester.
Many county fire departments don't keep a full-staff. This program allows LCFD Two to keep a full staff 24 hours a day to help them assist the community better.
"Even if you're not sure you know it doesn't take someone with a whole lot of experience to do this," said senior resident Dustin Brown. "It's aimed at building people up from, you know not knowing anything to being able to be very competitive."
To apply for the program, visit www.LCFD2.net or head to LCFD #2 Station 1 at 5800 N. College Dr. in Cheyenne.
