Johnson Pool at Lincoln Park reopened to the public today after months of being closed, though certain restrictions are still in place.

To accommodate public health orders, capacity at the pool will be limited to 50 people at a given time, as opposed to its normal capacity of 100.

In the event that the pool meets that limit and others still want to come in, Desiree Vapenik, manager of the Aquatics Center, says they will have to put their names in a waitlist.

“We’ve been taking names on a waitlist; unfortunately, though, that requires people to leave before we can let more people in," she says. "And so, if they happen to be in the area, we recommend that they enjoy the Lincoln Park [in the meantime], basketball, the new playground features that are over there.”

Staff will also be required to wear face masks to keep visitors and other personnel safe.

Current public health orders from the state health department are set to expire on July 15.
