CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) The Casper-Natrona County Health Department opened its doors and showed visitors the wide array of services it provides Thursday to celebrate its 65th anniversary.
The "Flu Bug" greets visitors at the Casper-Natrona County Health Department's 65th anniversary celebration open house in Casper, Wyo. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019.
They toured the building and learned about each of the department’s six divisions. These include environmental health, adult health, maternal and child health, sexual health and immunizations, disease prevention and emergency preparedness.
“We opened our doors and invited the public to come in and talk about all of the different programs we have going on here at the health department,” Casper-Natrona County Health Department Executive Director Anna Kinder said.
Visitors also got to see the “flu bug” and were treated to birthday cake following their tour.
Kinder said she thought turnout was great and was glad to show people how the department works with the entire Natrona County community.
“The most important thing that we want to get across is that public health serves all of our population. It doesn’t matter who you are, what economic bracket you’re in, male, female, any of those kinds of things,” she said. “There are no restrictions. Our doors are open to everyone and we have amazing providers.”
She said the health department is also getting ready for its flu clinic, which starts Oct. 1.
