Matthew Haltzman, founder of Haltzman Law Firm, says his practice is the first firm in northern Colorado and southern Wyoming that has toxicologists and board certified physicians on its staff.

“By having a medical doctor be available, toxicologist be available, just so we have free rein on consultation and just be able to give our clients the best possible representation,” said Matthew Haltzman, attorney and founder of Haltzman Law Firm. “They not only get a lawyer, they get an expert in toxicology, they get an expert in medicine, they get an expert in psychiatry, whatever they need. So, it’s kind of a unique concept and it’s something I built out of a need for Wyoming and Colorado clients.”

After law school, Haltzman took a position with the US Attorney’s office in Wyoming doing prosecution for Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park then went into private practice in Cheyenne before moving his practice to the Fort Collins area. Haltzman says the practice is a focus on criminal defense by handling the science and law behind criminal issues they often see in the area. Haltzman says the physician on staff, Dr. Scott Haltzman, is able to give everyone a better understanding of medicine, injuries, and any kind of mental health issue that might be impacting a client.

“There’s a mental health crisis, there’s a lot of addiction issues that plague southern Wyoming and northern Colorado and I think as lawyers, we have a very strong understanding of what the legal implications of an addiction issue or mental health crisis are but what are the medical issues,” said Haltzman.

Haltzman says having medical professionals on his team helps everyone to better understand an addiction issue or about how certain medication can impact a client. To contact his firm, you can call 970-692-3440 or head to
