Governor Mark Gordon addressed the 65th Legislature on Monday, February 10, 2020 in the House Chamber. This is the first session back in the State Capitol Building after renovations.

Governor Gordon addressed the House of Representatives and the Senate for around 45 minutes. In his speech, the Governor focused on several different aspects of the state economy. He said that Wyoming is strong. Three stats he looked at to support this statement were population growth, unemployment is down and at its lowest rate since 2008, and also cited personal income being up.

Governor Gordon said, "We produce energy better, more safely, and with more attention to the environment than anywhere else on the planet, and yet our industries are still discriminated against, maligned, and decried as dead. Well, not on my watch! Know this -- Wyoming will always advocate for our industries."

Governor Gordon said his office is working to fight the state of Washington and other states from blocking the exportation of coal. "I will defend our state," said Governor Gordon.

Another aspect that Governor Gordon focused on during his address was the tourism industry. "Tourism and outdoor recreation in Wyoming represents an enormous opportunity to grow our economy."
