Glenrock American Legion and community send holiday packages to Wyoming troops
The tradition started 17 years ago in American Legion Auxiliary member Joanne Howe's living room.
"This community is absolutely amazing," Howe said.
131 packages were sent today to give the troops a little taste of home during the holidays. Each package is filled with a heartfelt thank you note, toiletries, candy, beef jerky and more.
"They're fighting, they're laying their lives on the line for us and that's important. It's important if we can give them a smile or anything for a little while," Doris Cooper, American Legion Auxiliary member, said.
Donations from local businesses and the community help make this tradition possible. Money not spent on the packages will go towards helping veterans across the state.
