CHEYENNE, Wyo. (KGWN) For the next few weeks, Wyoming News Now will highlight an area of Cheyenne and chat with a council representative from that part of town. For the first day of the series, we talked with Dicky Shanor from Ward II.
Councilman Shanor is in his seventh year with the council and says he was raised to be involved in the community and volunteered with various organizations growing up. He says that volunteering stayed with him throughout his college years and continued when he moved back to his hometown of Cheyenne. Shanor says that although there are three wards, each councilman tries to help out the others.
“We do try to focus on our wards but also we’re all invested in downtown, we’re all invested in the community as a whole because we’re all in this together,” said Councilman Dicky Shanor.
Shanor says he’s very optimistic about Cheyenne’s future with so many great things going on for the city and is excited to see what is ahead for the community. He spoke fondly about highlights of Ward II including Frontier Mall.
“A lot of good memories from this place [Frontier Mall] from childhood on and it’s our only mall in town and a lot of great things along Dell Range and all the restaurants and shops and then everything north of that,” said Shanor. “A lot of wonderful developments and neighborhoods in our city.”
