CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) If you were a member of the Casper Fitness 307, you may have looked twice when you saw a sign that said they were closing for good this past Friday. They announced last week that due to unforeseen circumstances, there will no longer be a Fitness 307 in Casper.
"We didn't know that this was going to happen until just recently, It was a shock for myself and my staff. The building has sold and the new owner is going to put a new tenant in place," Tim Jonart, Fitness 307 regional director of operations, said.
Jonart said Fitness 307 looked for a new location but did not find anywhere that was a good fit. He says the inconvenient location of Fitness 307, the oil bust, bigger gym competition and the fitness industry itself played a role in the closure.
"Fitness is not as profitable for the location as it used to be. It's been a struggle for us just like a lot of local businesses. The oil bust has really affected the number of people that are in town. There's less people here so there's less people buying memberships," Jonart said.
Jonart said it's been an honor to assist so many in the community.
"It feels great to look back and know that we did make a difference. Whether or not the business made it or not, we changed peoples lives," Jonart said.
Fitness 307 will be selling its equipment and everything that is not sold will go to their Cheyenne locations.
